Green Smoothie Cleanse

I have been doing some spring cleaning around the house to get ready for the season change and I figured it was the perfect time to do some "house keeping" with my own health ;) . Ten days ago I decided to started a green smoothie cleanse to detoxify my body from the past winter/holiday season. What a better way to get ready for Spring than cleanse and shed a few pounds while doing it!? Today I finished my last day on the cleanse and I am happy to say that it was SO EASY! I felt full the entire time, had tons of energy and even lost a little bit of weight! (6 lbs)

Now I feel refreshed and ready for the spring season to come! If you want to do a gentle cleanse for spring, this is definitely the way to do it.

Here's what I did:

Every morning I made a HUGE batch of a green smoothie with a few handfuls of leafy greens, fresh and frozen fruit, ground flax seed, and hemp protein powder. After, I would separate it into 3-4 jars to drink throughout the day. I also munched on healthy snacks, such as raw veggies, apple slices, boiled eggs, or raw nuts and seeds, in between shakes whenever I got hungry. I made sure to drink lots of water as well, and that's it! :)

You can mix and match whatever ingredients you like. This was my favorite one :)

Strawberry Banana Green Smoothie 

Ingredients:

  • 2 handfuls of fresh spinach
  • 2 handfuls of mixed salad greens or fresh kale
  • 3 cups of filtered water
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh/frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1 banana
  • 1 1/2 tbsp ground flax seed
  • 1 scoop of hemp protein powder

Directions:  

Blend greens with water until smooth. Add ground flax and your choice of protein powder. Add all the fruit and blend until smooth. (You can add ice for desired consistency if you would like).
