How to Make Fresh Strawberry Margaritas

Mexico is seriously one of the most beautiful places I have ever been! As I was driving the 45 minutes from the airport to my mom's house, I was amazed at the breathtaking views, greenery, small fruit stands and pineapple fields! All the food is fresh and rich in antioxidants and powerful nutrients.

This morning I walked down to the market and picked up more fruits and vegetables than I could comfortably carry. All for only $19!!! My arms were sore by the time I got home, but it was worth it! I got right to work making all sorts of snacks and healthy treats: pina coladas, margaritas, guacamole, pica de gallo, stuffed papaya and more!

Most of you who know me know that I don't eat refined sugars or drink alcohol, which makes enjoying most traditional tropical drinks a no go. Instead of using sugary syrups to make margaritas, I decided to use fresh, delicious ingredients, leave the alcohol out and enjoy these by the pool. These are great for a healthy treat to curb your sweet tooth during the first few weeks of my "Lose It In 6" Holistic Eating & Weight Loss Challenge

Here's the recipe: 

Healthy Strawberry Margaritas

  • 3 cups of fresh chopped strawberries 
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice 
  • 1-2 Table spoons honey (optional)
  • 1/3 cup freshly squeezed orange juice 
  • 3 cups of ice 
  • 2 fresh strawberries to garnish

Directions: 

Place strawberries, lime juice, honey, and orange juice in the blender. Blend until smooth. Then add the ice and blend again on high until desired consistency. You can add more ice here depending on how you like your drinks. Garnish with fresh strawberries, and enjoy!
